William Anthony Spivey

36-year-old William Anthony Spivey, former Chadburn Police Chief, has been arrested and charged with 70-felony charges. He was arrested after the authorities received a tip.

William Spivey went to Lumber River for a fishing trip. William's family thought he could've committed suicide because his boat was in Lumber River and his car was parked at the boat landing. Sheriff Department collected handwritten letters and a rifle on his boat. William was reported missing on February 21st. The were air and ground searches for him. The investigators didn't think it was a suicide, it looked staged to them. There began two separate investigations, one for a missing person (William) and the other a criminal investigation. Authorities received a tip to where William was located. William ran into the woods and he was arrested.

William has more than 40 outstanding warrants from failure to appear in court. His total bond is one million dollars.

William Anthony Spivey was relieved of his duties by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations last Spring. He was charged with 73 charges ranging from destroying evidence, stealing, embezzlement, trafficking and possession of drugs, and more.
